Perhaps you have been curious as to the whereabouts of The Juggling Prawn.
I have not gone into extinction. I have been trying to adapt to a new habitat.
And while at that, I made some observations about some marketing strategies or tricks.
Before you make any assumptions, I would like to emphasise that I am not embarking on a new career path. Rest assured that my dedication and commitment to my current profession remain unwavering.
At least, not yet.
Some skincare manufacturers are in danger of having their names removed from Heaven’s list.
This is simply because they sometimes put ‘captivating’ labels to mislead consumers.
This time, they misled me. 😡
So I have had this Dove product that has been sitting pretty in my bathroom- unused.
Recently, I decided to have a go at it.
I had a nice hot bath in the morning (with a not-Dove product).
And because I naturally have dry skin, I try not to miss applying moisturiser on my skin.
Also, with the kind of weather I’m stuck with at the moment, body cream is an integral part of the survival kits.
Before now, I’ve used various moisturisers from Oriflame’s milk and honey to E45 and of course, Vaseline moisturisers.
I don’t have a preference when it comes to skincare.
This I believe is very normal with my gender.
As long as it is suitable for dry skin, I can roll with it
So on this day, I tried something different – Dove moisturiser. Or so I thought.
See picture below.

It says ‘Caring Bath’, right?
But it also has ‘moisturising cream’ written on it.
werey dey disguise*
I can easily overlook the bath part of it since eggplant, which is conventionally a fruit, has been used to refer to something else that goes into other orifices other than the mouth… and sometimes mouth… if you know what I mean
See ehn, in this life, some things and people are just there to confuse you.
Just pray against every agent of confusion every time you start a new day.
On this occasion, the people working at Unilever’s department of skincare products are sitting comfortably on this table.
To be honest, the thing that caught my attention was the moisturising part.
And maybe the vanilla.
My oh my…😋
So I applied my warm vanilla moisturiser.
The first thing I noticed was that it appeared ‘white’ on my body, just like when you apply too much lotion on your skin.
But it faded off after a few seconds, leaving behind a sweet warm smell.
I didn’t think that was a problem.
Much later in the day, the second thing I noticed was after I attended to a patient and needed to wash my hands, arms and my elbows.
My arms felt slightly slippery and foamy when I ran my hand under the tap, even before I applied soap.
It still didn’t feel weird after all, some hand sanitisers can be foamy too.
But I was like “damn boy is so clean, fresh and smooth“. 😎
Around lunchtime, I had the third feeling and I couldn’t ignore this one.
I mistakenly got soap dispensed into my hands instead of sanitiser.
I rubbed my palms together and the feeling was familiar –slippery and foamy.
That was when I realised something was wrong but still couldn’t figure out what, as I washed the soap off my hands.
I got home and decided to read the label very well.
Aside from that caring bath part, there was nowhere on the label that indicated that was a bath gel.
It did smell like cream, by the way. And I loved the smell.
I was even complimented.
Thinking about it, maybe that compliment was sarcasm. 🙄
But everyone loves vanilla, right?🙃
or should I say “Every normal person should like vanilla flavour”.
Yeah, I said what I said.
So that compliment was real.🤪
Ladies and gentlemen, that was how I rubbed soap on my body to work.
I had a vanilla scent on me all through that day.
And It was quite moisturising. 😉
The Juggling Prawn wishes you all a warm Christmas celebration.
Stay safe.
